I agree. Face to face is always more powerful. Most people intuitively know this. Technology is very powerful but will never be better than face to face interaction. Put people in the same room and they will thrive!

As always, excellent article. I find it a little bit hilarious that the, "...IAEE published an excellent white paper on using Social Media for Meetings and Events. Unfortunately, when it came time for IAEE’s major event, they didn’t read their own white paper." but everyone else seems to at least get the message. Im looking forward to seeing whats in store for the future. Do you have any bold predictions you're willing to publicly profess?

Excellent post and interview Jenise. David is a technology junkie and always on the cutting edge so I would definitely suggest listening to his predictions.

re:PowerPoint & Prezi
Prezi is awesome but PowerPoint isn't going anywhere. It's easy to use and people are addicted to using it. It's kind of like drug and people aren't going to break the habit until they find a better drug. Prezi, and services like it) makes the presentation better for the audience but everyone already has PowerPoint (or free access to it via Google Docs) and services like Prezi can cost additional money which can be a roadblock for some.

Advice from David...
I encourage event professionals to heed David's advice to stay on top of the changing event industry landscape, "...read read read watch watch watch talk talk talk be interested in *everything*. We are programmers of human interaction and most of all have to be observant."

Tahira,

Thanks so much for the comment. I agree. Authenticity and relevancy should be givens, otherwise, what's the point of having an event? We are, after all, in the business of facilitating human connections. Without authenticity and relevancy, there is NO connection.
