About The Author

I am a classic Gen-X early adopter and also a big picture thinker; I like to always stay ahead of the curve. I was born in Bangkok but grew up in Washington DC and consider myself for all intents and purposes a true DC native. I have two kids and three black and white cats - my house is a total zoo, which is why I love being a digital nomad and work from anywhere. I change my hair a lot which is why my pic here may look nothing like others elsewhere.

  • For Part 1, “Designing Your Strategy“, Tara Dunion of the Consumer Electronics Association talked about their process for building up a social media presence for the CES using a whole host of outposts over the last few years;

Six Lessons from #Untech10

By Maddie Grant

By now, you’ve all heard about how the UnTech10 unconference sprung out of the cancelled ASAE Technology Conference (and if not, here’s the scoop).

As one of the organizers of Untech10, I have, of course, been thinking a lot about not only how awesome it all was and how great it felt to be part of it, but also what this means as a case study for the use of social media. Here are a few initial thoughts about “lessons” that might have come out of it. See what you think, I’d love to hear your takeaways and ideas about this.

Exhibitor Magazine Social Media Survey

By Maddie Grant

engage1

Just wanted to point everyone to this recent 2010 Social Media in Marketing survey by Exhibitor Magazine. (Thanks to Mike and Eric Hatch for the hat tip). This is the first survey I’ve seen personally (though I am sure there are others, if you know of good ones please post links in the comments!) that speaks to the event/tradeshow industry specifically.

Have a look and see what you think. Are you surprised by the results? Anything jump out as being a surprise? Any social media sites missing that you think have a decent impact on exhibit marketing?
